Welcome to STUBS |
|
|
STUBS (as
in “ticket stubs”) is a registered charity that provides practical
support for UK armed services personnel injured on duty, war widows and
their dependents, service veterans, and other armed services personnel.
A key aspect of STUBS work is support for the UK’s most seriously
injured servicemen and servicewomen, who are in-patients at the Defence Medical
Rehabilitation Centre (DMRC) at Headley Court, Epsom.
Severely-injured servicemen
from Headley Court are frequent visitors to sporting events including
London Wasps home games, where STUBS rents an executive box on the
halfway line offering patients a great view of the action. Patients also
attend a wide range of sporting events and for many their
initial outing to a STUBS event is their first time out in public since
being injured. |

STUBS also acquires and
distributes unsold event tickets to service veterans not included within
the Tickets For Troops political initiative.
During the 2009/10
rugby season we have had guests from both the Royal British Legion and
the Royal Marines Association, and STUBS were instrumental in
assisting the RBL to launch the local Poppy Appeal in
front of a record 8000 crowd, and kick-starting the 2009 fundraising
with just under £3000 from the wonderfully supportive Wasps fans.
