STUBS News May 2013

  Dear Peter,

URGENT!!  LADY CYCLISTS NEEDED……

Ladies STUBS needs you! We are holding our very first “ladies only” cycle challenge on the 30th August from London to Bruges and would like you to be part of it. The challenge is for novice and more regular lady cyclists.

We are hoping that those of you that cycle regularly will take on a leading role at the event or even be a support rider for one of our ladies who will be using an adapted bike? For those of you that have just learnt to ride or who have not been on a bike in years, this would be a great but very "do-able" challenge. We cycle to the pace of the slowest rider so there is no need to feel that you have to go faster than you are happy with.

The event has its own web site at www.londonbrugesbikeride.org.uk so take a look and check it out now!!

Please get in touch with Amanda if you feel that you would like to join us and help to fund the assistance that STUBS provides for our injured military personnel….Thank You.

FACEBOOK COMPETITION

And the winner is…….Mr Phil Mills. He is now the proud owner of one of our new T-shirts with our mascot STUBSY on.

If you would like to own one of these they can be purchased from the shop on the STUBS website (www.stubs.org.uk) for £6. In sizes small to 3XL….

FUNDRAISER OF THE MONTH

The award this month goes to Julian Lewis who, despite really awful British weather managed to raise £891.07, walking the length of Hadrian’s Wall.

Well done Julian and Thank You!

Other Fundraising News this month:-

Michelle Cook from Waitrose in Marlow kindly presented Jan Vassie and Amanda O’Farrell with a cheque for £221.

This money was raised in store through their Community Matters scheme.

Thank You Waitrose!

Craig Vassie was presented with a cheque for £2,700 at half time at the Harlequins v Northampton Saints Rugby Match at The Stoop on Saturday 4th May.

This money has been raised by Foska.com selling their Harlequins cycling jersey, £10 from each sale coming to STUBS. Massive thanks to Quinssa, all the Quins Fans who bought the jersey, and finally also to Tony Yerby and his team at Foska.com.

OTHER NEWS…..

Hartsdown College in Margate held a charity football match between staff and pupils on the 1st May in support of STUBS. Many thanks to David Parker and team for their organisational skills.

It looks like a great day was had by all…..

So the sun is shining and it is a lovely Sunday and you say to your family “Let’s go for a stroll?”……..Well how about joining us on Sunday 23rd June for our Red Kite Ramble through the beautiful Buckinghamshire countryside and get sponsored to do it? Walks are of various lengths of 6, 10 or 17 miles and yes you can bring your dog. What a lovely way to fundraise for STUBS and spend quality time with your family?
